There are many ways in which you can make your visit even more special. Perhaps the best tip we can give is to make sure you see the city from the river at some point. Boat trips operate at various places, and we highly recommend them. The new V&A, Discovery Point and Slessor Gardens all look wonderful from the road, but they look particularly impressive from the River Tay.
Dundee is the perfect city for those who like to explore on foot, partly because it’s relatively compact and partly because there are plenty of refreshments along the way. Be sure to try the pavement cafés and the street food outlets here, because there’s something special about savouring delicious eats and drinks while enjoying a well-earned rest.
If you’re on a budget, you’ll be impressed by the number of free pleasures that are available here. They include the city’s Architectural Trail, the Dundee Law (don’t worry, it’s spectacular extinct volcano, not a drab solicitor’s office!), the superb V&A Dundee and the McManus Gallery. It’s easy to enjoy this wonderful city without having to spend a fortune in the process.
Finally, we’d recommend planning your trip to get the most from it. The V&A Dundee hosts regular exhibitions which can take a little while to view, so make sure you allow enough time to do so. Similarly, the McManus is home to eight different galleries, so if you want to see them all you’ll need time. A little well-planned time management can go a long way in our glorious city.
