Dundee’s latest sports bar, Top Dog Sports Bar, is set to open just in time for the Champions League final this weekend (Sat 1st June 2024) . Located at West Marketgait, the former dessert parlour has been transformed into a sports enthusiast’s haven, featuring 12 TV screens, interactive dartboards, and pool tables.
The bar officially opens on Friday at 6 pm, kicking off with a screening of Scotland women’s football clash with Israel. Operating seven days a week from 11 am, it will have a late license until 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Top Dog Sports Bar offers American-style hot dogs, nachos, and loaded tater tots. The venue’s new logo is based on director Andrew McMahon’s dog, Jiggy, adding a personal touch to the brand. The bar aims to create a communal atmosphere, perfect for large groups looking to enjoy sports together.
This new venture has created ten local jobs and is looking to sponsor a local sports team. The project, the most expensive undertaken by Andrew McMahon and his team, highlights the investment in and commitment to the local community.
Andrew McMahon credits the late Janet Hood, a leading licensing solicitor, for her pivotal role in overcoming obstacles to get the venue opened. Her contributions were invaluable to the project, and her loss is deeply felt by the team.
Whether you’re a sports fan eager to catch the latest game or looking for a new spot to hang out with friends, Top Dog Sports Bar promises a lively and engaging experience. Be sure to check it out and raise a glass to this exciting new addition to Dundee’s vibrant social scene.
