In a thrilling development for Dundee’s hospitality landscape, Percor Capital, the esteemed proprietors of Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Suites Dundee, is embarking on an ambitious £1million refurbishment project at their IHG dual-branded site in the heart of the city. This landmark project not only promises to rejuvenate the hotel but also includes the introduction of a cutting-edge new bar, Eighteen Twenty-Two, enhancing the already popular Daisy Tasker restaurant. A revamped lobby and expanded guest parking are also part of the plan.
The new bar, Eighteen Twenty-Two, is a nod to the hotel’s storied past, commemorating the year when the building first emerged as Dundee’s premier linen mill – then the largest in the world. This bar will present guests with an exquisite venue to enjoy a diverse array of wines, beers, and spirits. Particularly noteworthy is the showcasing of Dundee’s local brands, harmoniously paired with international favourites.
Eighteen Twenty-Two isn’t just about drinks; it’s a celebration of Scottish heritage with an exclusive Whisky library, local gins, and a specially curated cocktail menu that honours local flavours and ingredients. The food menu complements this with local delights like toasted bagels, flatbreads, burger sliders, and house specialties including pork and black pudding sausage rolls and haggis Scotch eggs.
The hotel’s transformation extends to its lobby, which will now feature co-working spaces, an additional perk for city centre visitors. This area will also offer branded coffee and pastries, perfect for guests and locals alike. The refurbishment, starting in February, is scheduled to welcome guests by Easter.
Jean-Pierre Permutt from Percor Capital remarked, “Our five-year journey with Hotel Indigo Dundee has been remarkable, and this new investment is a testament to our commitment to Dundee’s cultural vibrancy. Eighteen Twenty-Two is not just a bar; it’s a tribute to the city’s spirit and history.”
Manny Baber, General Manager, echoed this enthusiasm, “Eighteen Twenty-Two is more than a bar; it’s a fusion of our rich history and modern style, offering an unparalleled experience for guests and locals. From our fine selection of drinks to delicious small plates, every aspect is designed to offer a memorable experience.”
The refurbishment is more than a mere facelift; it’s a redefinition of the guest experience. Visitors can indulge in a boutique hotel stay, enjoy fine dining at Daisy Tasker, and unwind in the stylish Eighteen Twenty-Two, all under one roof. The additional enhancements, including the lobby and parking, are set to make Hotel Indigo a top choice for both leisure and business travellers.
