Writing for Wellbeing

This is a five-week program held on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, running from 22nd May to 19th June 2025.
The sessions will take place at the Macro/Micro Living Lab Building, Botanic Garden, University of Dundee, located on Riverside Drive, Dundee DD2 1QH.

**WRITING FOR WELLBEING**
We are in the midst of a mental health epidemic. Beyond the lingering impacts of a global health crisis, we face a scarcity of time, perpetual haste, unending stress, and the harmful noise of social media alongside the strains of the digital era. Building on my experiences working with hospice patients and mental health organizations, I am excited to provide a space to discover writing as a tool for improving personal wellbeing. We will explore various forms such as journaling, scrapbooking, and poetry, among others.
**Tutor: Sandra Ireland**
Sandra Ireland, hailing from Carnoustie, Angus, is a celebrated poet and author. She clinched the Scottish Association of Writers’ Dorothy Dunbar Trophy for Poetry in 2017 and has featured in collections like Seagate III, Furies, and more. Her first novel, *Beneath the Skin* (2016), was serialized in The Dundee Courier in late 2020. Her later works include *Bone Deep* (2018) and *The Unmaking of Ellie Rook* (2019). Her latest book, *Sight Unseen: A Sarah Sutherland Thriller* (2020), was named The Courier’s Scottish Book of the Week.
