The Psychology of Carl Jung with Dr Rachel Newsome

Ever pondered what insights our dreams and fantasies might reveal about our deeper psyche? We invite you to an enlightening session on the psychological theories of Carl Jung, a pioneer whose revolutionary concepts highlight the transformative and restorative potential of the unconscious mind. As a key figure in depth psychology, Jung was an innovative thinker, artist, and visionary whose forward-thinking ideas were far beyond his era. His profound exploration of ancient spiritual traditions and mythologies, combined with intense dream analysis, pushed him to the brink of mental collapse. From these experiences, he formulated groundbreaking theories such as the collective unconscious, archetypes (like the shadow and the self), synchronicity, individuation, and the pursuit of creative self-expression, among others.

In this presentation, we will delve into essential Jungian ideas, examining how Jung integrated ancient Eastern philosophies with Western psychological thought. We will discuss how this fusion can be seen as a ‘sacred science’ that addresses the spiritual dilemmas of late-stage capitalism, positioning us within a broader reality that transcends the confines of time and space. We will explore the critical role of imagination, dreams, and symbols in Jung’s psychoanalytic methods, including his unique practice of active imagination, often described as ‘conscious dreaming.’ Additionally, we’ll reflect on the enduring relevance of Jung’s psychoanalysis as a dynamic and impactful approach to unlocking the mysteries of the mind and fostering creativity for personal and societal advancement.

Doors will open at 7:00 PM, with the lecture beginning at 7:30 PM—arrive early to secure a prime spot!
