Spring Flowers in Watercolour with Jenny Matthews RSW

After a series of highly successful sessions, we are thrilled to have Jenny Matthews RSW return for a special one-day workshop titled Spring Flowers in Watercolour. Renowned as one of Scotland’s leading experts in watercolour, particularly with botanical themes, Jenny honed her skills in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, under the guidance of Elizabeth Blackadder among others. With three decades of experience as a professional artist, her work has been showcased extensively across the UK and internationally. Discover her inspiring portfolio at www.jennymatthews.co.uk.

This workshop offers an opportunity to delve into watercolour as a tool for detailed representation while also embracing its potential for expressive and abstract styles, challenging conventional limits and expanding your artistic techniques. Perfectly timed for spring, the session will feature an abundance of blooming flowers, available both in the nearby Arthouse garden and as cut samples. Weather permitting, participants can work both outside and inside, marking a vibrant beginning to your summer creations.

During the day, Jenny will showcase her painting methods, demonstrating both her meticulous attention to detail and her more relaxed, fluid style. She will share valuable tips on sketching flowers and foliage to help you produce lifelike and polished artworks. Additionally, she will introduce you to the works of other artists, guiding you on an exciting path of artistic discovery in a supportive and creative environment. Some materials will be provided for use or available for purchase.

Please note that this is a paid event.
