Museum Lecture Chippendale on the Links David Jones

David Jones – Chippendale and Golfing Ties in North East Fife – Exploring Thomas Chippendale the Elder’s Local Benefactors and Their Links to the Golfing Community. We are excited to have David Jones join us to delve into the significant ties between the renowned eighteenth-century furniture craftsman, Thomas Chippendale, and our region. In his presentation, David will shed light on the individuals who supported Chippendale by subscribing to his iconic furniture design book, while also uncovering their often unexpected connections to the world of golf.

David Jones spent three decades teaching Furniture History at the University of St Andrews, during which he published extensively on the topic. Now retired, he remains active in researching, writing, and giving talks on themes related to the East Neuk of Fife, his home area.

His recent work includes an in-depth look at sixteenth-century carvings in the East Neuk, as well as a detailed examination of the supporters of Thomas Chippendale the Elder in North East Fife.

Doors will open at 6:30pm, with light refreshments served in the learning room. The talk is scheduled to start at 7pm.
