Michael Pedersen on Robert Louis Stevenson

Edinburgh Makar, writer, and first-time novelist Michael Pedersen will guide us through an energetic evening celebrating Robert Louis Stevenson and the art of storytelling. The event kicks off with a viewing of ‘Pedersen & The Spirit of Robert Louis Stevenson,’ a brief documentary crafted by Spanish director David Carrillo. Hosted by Pedersen, the film showcases Dr. Colin McIlroy, curator at the National Library, as he unveils notable pieces from the Library’s esteemed Robert Louis Stevenson collection. After the screening, David and Colin will engage in a dynamic discussion with the audience.

Next, Pedersen will be accompanied by the globally renowned author Val McDermid, who will express her admiration for Stevenson and her deep connection to literature. The duo will animate Stevenson’s creations through recitations and anecdotes, while also sharing insights into their personal writing paths.

This gathering coincides with our ongoing exhibition ‘Tusitala: Pacific Perspectives on Robert Louis Stevenson,’ which is open at George IV Bridge until May 10.
