Letham Nights 84 Matt Carmichael
We are thrilled beyond words to announce that we’ve secured a performance by a true pioneer of the Scottish jazz-folk genre, Matt Carmichael. As many of you might be aware, Scotland is currently experiencing a remarkable era in jazz, with artists like Matt, alongside Mercury Prize nominees Fergus McCreadie and Liam Shortall of corto.alto, earning widespread praise and international recognition. Matt’s latest album, *Dancing with Embers*, has just been released and will be available for purchase at the event, including on vinyl. Described by BBC Music Magazine as ‘a fresh and unique talent in a competitive field,’ saxophonist and composer Matt creates deeply moving music that seamlessly fuses Jazz and Folk influences. He has graced stages across Europe, performing at events like Celtic Connections, Ronnie Scott’s, Love Supreme, and Bimhuis, and has also featured as a guest soloist with the Grammy Award-winning WDR Big Band in Germany, where his compositions were arranged by Bob Mintzer. Additionally, Matt plays a vital role in the exceptionally skilled Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Tommy Smith.
Please note that this is a ticketed event.
