Learn to Make a Copper Ring

Join the Angus Creatives Festival of Makers for a unique chance to unleash your artistic side and learn the art of jewellery crafting under the guidance of jewellery artist Sheila Roussel. In this intimate workshop setting, you’ll be walked through each stage of crafting a distinctive textured copper ring. Throughout the session, Sheila will demonstrate techniques for adding texture and designs to copper, as well as methods for annealing, shaping, soldering, filing, and polishing your piece. Participants will work with tools such as small pliers, a jewellery saw, hammers, files, and a mini blow torch for annealing and soldering tasks.

You’ll receive ample personalized assistance to ensure your ring is the perfect fit. Additionally, you’ll have the option to choose your ring’s final look, whether it’s a shiny polish, a matte satin finish, or an aged, oxidized appearance for a vintage vibe. This ring will be a one-of-a-kind creation. No prior experience with copper is necessary, making this workshop ideal for complete novices.

What’s covered:
The £20 cost covers access to all necessary tools, equipment, and copper materials for the session.
Please ensure you can handle small pliers, and remember to bring your reading glasses if needed for detailed tasks. Feel free to bring an apron to safeguard your clothing, and wear closed-toe footwear—no open-toed shoes or sandals. Also, secure long hair before starting.
