Hill of Tarvits Guided Tour
Tarvit Hill Mansion is a classic Edwardian residence nestled in the rolling hills close to Cupar. The mansion was primarily constructed as a display venue for an impressive collection that includes Flemish tapestries, Chinese ceramics and bronzes, French and English furniture, European artworks, and numerous other treasures, all amassed by Frederick Sharp, a financier and jute industrialist from Dundee. Frederick Sharp acquired the property, originally named Wemysshall, from a descendant of the Wemyss family, who had held ownership since approximately 1690. Upon purchase, Sharp enlisted the renowned Scottish architect Robert Lorimer to transform the existing 17th-century structure into the splendid mansion that stands today.
