Forest Bathing Walk Taster session
**Introduction to Forest Bathing – St. Mark’s Park, Leith**
**What is Forest Bathing?**
Forest Bathing, known as ‘Shinrin-Yoku’ in Japanese, is a mindful practice of immersing oneself in nature. This gentle and reflective activity encourages you to slow down and align with the natural rhythm of the environment, noticing the subtle beauty and marvels that often go unnoticed in our hectic lives. In today’s fast-paced world, forest bathing offers a chance to be fully present and forge a profound bond with the natural surroundings.
**What to Expect During a Forest Bathing Experience?**
As your guide, I will lead a small group through a sensory journey to enhance your connection with the forest. This introductory session provides a chance to explore this unique practice in a convenient local spot in Leith, Edinburgh. We’ll start with a brief guided meditation to heighten awareness of your senses, followed by a leisurely walk where you’ll discover creative methods to engage with nature and share experiences with fellow participants.
**About Your Guide**
Rosie McLoughlin – My journey into forest bathing began after being introduced to it by my colleague, Caitlin Keddie. I became a certified Forest Bathing Guide through the Forest Therapy Hub (European Institute) in November 2021, with additional training in May 2022. Alongside this, I am an Applied Psychologist with more than a decade of experience in mental health support. I’ve witnessed firsthand how forest bathing can significantly boost mental well-being and serve as a powerful tool for self-care.
