Edinburgh Royal Mile Chamber Music Series
St Giles Cathedral is the venue for the debut of the Edinburgh Royal Mile Chamber Music Series. This captivating and esteemed new concert series will showcase a remarkable array of chamber music performances throughout 2024-25, highlighting timeless classical and romantic works by composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Haydn, and others.
The series will feature an impressive roster of talented UK and international musicians, offering a unique chance to experience some of the finest chamber music in the breathtaking, candlelit setting of St Giles Cathedral. Enhanced by a recently acquired Steinway Grand Piano, these concerts promise to be an unforgettable musical journey. Located at the center of the Royal Mile, St Giles is surrounded by a variety of bars and restaurants, making it easy to round off your evening with dining and drinks.

Katherine Jenkinson has built a distinguished career as a recitalist and concerto soloist, performing across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the USA. She has collaborated extensively with contemporary composers including Arvo Pärt, Oliver Davis, Anthony Payne, Richard Allain, and Thomas Hyde. In 2018, she recorded the cello concerto *Morpheus* by Oliver Davis with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, an album that gained significant popularity on Classic FM and iTunes. Richard Allain is currently crafting a concerto for Cello and Hang for Katherine and renowned artist Manu Delago, set for performance and recording in 2022/23. Additionally, Katherine is scheduled to perform and record the world premiere of a new chamber arrangement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto in June 2022. Chamber music remains central to her artistry; she was part of The Rautio Piano Trio (2001-2006) and The Allegri String Quartet (2008-2011), and is a founding member of The Aquinas Piano Trio. With this trio, she performs regularly in the UK and internationally, particularly in Menton, France. The trio has an active recording schedule, with a forthcoming three-album series on the Naxos Label, including works by Haydn, Smetana, Rachmaninov, Lawrence Rose, and Michael Stimpson.
