CWGC War Graves Week 2025 Seafield Cemetery Edinburgh

Come along for a complimentary guided walk through Edinburgh Seafield Cemetery. While there is no charge for our tours, we welcome contributions to our associated charity, The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF), if you wish to show your support. You can donate via their website at https://foundation.cwgc.org/donate/. We will gather at the Cross of Sacrifice, located within the cemetery close to the Boothacre (Leith Links) Entrance.

Seafield Cemetery is the resting place of 185 individuals from the First World War, with some interred in the military section of Plot B, others in the admiralty area of Plot M (indicated by a commemorative wall listing the names of those buried there or in unmarked graves elsewhere in the cemetery), and the remainder dispersed throughout. Additionally, the cemetery holds 104 burials from the Second World War, predominantly grouped in Plot P, including five unidentified sailors. There are also two graves of foreign nationals from the wars and three non-military service burials.

Within the cemetery grounds, Seafield Crematorium is situated, and 21 service members from the Second World War who were cremated there are remembered on a memorial wall across from the war graves in Plot P.

Parking is available both on-site and in the vicinity; however, there are no amenities directly at the cemetery. The terrain is flat, accessible for wheelchairs, and restroom facilities are available at the Crematorium. Lothian Bus No. 1 has a stop right outside the cemetery entrance.

We advise dressing appropriately for the weather conditions and wearing comfortable, sturdy shoes.
