In this brief series, we will explore themes that highlight the distinctiveness of Dundee, its past, and its community.
Many of us have grown up hearing stories from family members about their experiences in Dundee’s renowned industries. Throughout this program, we will examine how the triumphs and challenges of these industries shaped the city and its residents.
Additionally, we will journey through the history of the Wellgate, tracing its story until its decline in the 1970s, to revive memories of this central hub of Dundee life.
Each session will include an opportunity for questions and audience input.
– 3rd June: The Wellgate Initiative: Erin Farley
– 10th June: Timex Tales – Exploring Timex’s Impact on Dundee: Julie McCrombie
– 17th June: If These Walls Could Speak – The Jute Mills of Dundee and Beyond: Alison Carrie
