BookshopLATES Concrete Dreams
Come along to an event with author Alison Irvine, photographer and filmmaker Chris Leslie, and illustrator Mitch Miller as they unveil their latest work, *Concrete Dreams: The Rise & Fall of Cumbernauld Town Centre*. This book delves into the intricate history of the striking 1960s Brutalist megastructure at the heart of Cumbernauld, recently acquired by North Lanarkshire Council and slated for demolition.
Over the course of their 18-month investigation, the trio was granted unique access to the inner workings of the building. They also engaged with past and current residents of Cumbernauld, gathering personal accounts, uncovering diverse viewpoints, and posing the critical question: should the Town Centre be preserved or torn down?
The event will include talks by the three creators, followed by a Q&A session moderated by architect Malcolm Fraser.
