Beginners Enamelling
Join us for a 2-day workshop where you’ll explore the essentials of enamelling, an exquisite and time-honored jewelry-making method that entails melting finely ground glass onto metal. Enamels are available in an extensive array of colors, both opaque and transparent, opening up a world of creative design options!
Throughout the workshop, we’ll delve into the core principles of enamelling and introduce you to fundamental techniques to kickstart your journey in this craft. You’ll learn methods such as sifting, sgraffito, stencilling, stamping, graphite application, and working with solid decorative glass. Additionally, we’ll demonstrate various ways to create unique surface textures using enamel.
This beginner-friendly workshop offers hands-on experience with the enamelling process, allowing you to experiment with different approaches. By the conclusion of the session, you’ll have a solid grasp of enamelling techniques, a collection of practice pieces and samples, and a completed set of earrings or a pendant—ideal as a personal indulgence or a thoughtful gift.
The workshop fee includes all necessary materials, enamels, and fastenings, as well as access to essential tools. Guidance and live demonstrations will be provided throughout, so there’s no need to arrive with prepared designs—though bringing any personal ideas or sources of inspiration is always encouraged.
Please wear suitable attire and closed-toe shoes for safety. While a protective apron is advised, it’s not mandatory. Ensure long hair is secured, and bring any eyewear required for detailed tasks.
Refreshments such as tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available, with a 45-minute lunch break scheduled each day. Lunch is not included, but you’re welcome to bring your own to enjoy in the studio or explore nearby cafés for a meal.
This workshop is designed for complete novices, and no prior enamelling skills are necessary. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 4 participants, running from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily. Attendees must be at least 18 years old.
Note: This is a paid event.
