This full-day workshop offers absolute beginners the opportunity to master fundamental woodworking techniques using only basic, practical hand tools in a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment. With a small group size of just four or five participants, personalized guidance is guaranteed, allowing everyone to progress at their own speed. This extended session builds on the highly successful introductory woodworking course I’ve been refining over recent years, receiving fantastic reviews from participants who feel a real sense of pride in creating something from the ground up. With a full day to work, each attendee will construct a unique item to take home—perhaps a birdhouse, a small stool, or a work stand—depending on available materials, while also exploring finishing touches and additional skills. All necessary materials are provided, and the workshop is well-stocked with tools, though you’re welcome to bring your own if you’d like to test them out (we’re always short on cordless drills!).

Wood is an essential material in countless everyday objects, making these hands-on skills incredibly valuable. Whether you dream of building raised garden beds, crafting or fixing furniture, framing pictures, installing shelves or sheds, or even constructing an eco-friendly home, this course lays the groundwork. Our woodworking space is located at the serene Inverquiech Farm near Alyth, a peaceful spot away from the hustle and bustle, yet conveniently close to Perth and Dundee. Detailed directions will be provided to all participants upon registration.

**SUSTAINABILITY AT INVERQUIECH FARM**
I’m thrilled to collaborate with Kate Everett, the farm’s owner, in offering this workshop and others. Together, we’re committed to promoting sustainable living and fostering a deeper bond with nature. Kate has launched a community initiative called Timeshare Permaculture, and we’ll share more details during the day. We’ll also take a break at lunchtime to explore parts of the farm—there’s plenty to discover!
