100 years of Scottish queer history
This presentation will explore key events in Scotland’s LGBTQ+ history that have contributed to its distinctive role within British queer heritage. It will cover the supportive networks of queer women in 1930s Edinburgh, the advocacy efforts of the Scottish Minorities Group during the 1970s, and the ongoing and historical challenges surrounding trans rights. Spanning a hundred years, the talk highlights a legacy of perseverance, defiance, and transformation. What insights can we gain from the past century of Scottish queer history about our current standing? Are we progressing, regressing, or following a completely unique trajectory?
