Dundee days out ideas on a budget

There is so much to do year-round in Dundee, but in winter, when it’s cold, wet and gets dark at 4 pm, you might be stuck on some ideas on what to do. It doesn’t matter if you are a science lover or not; everyone can have the best time at Dundee Science Centre. You can truly immerse yourself in the world of science while learning a thing or two. It’s no wonder Dundee is known as the City of Discovery! They have over 60 fun and informative exhibits. Also, a diverse programme of science shows, workshops and special events.

Another great idea for a family day out is HMS Unicorn. One of the world’s most remarkable historic ships, it’s 200 years old, making it the last surviving wooden warship left in Scotland. Even though it was built for the Royal Navy and launched in 1824, it remains wholly preserved to this day. It gives you a chance to learn more about life at sea, the history of the Navy in Dundee and warships in ‘the Golden Age of Sail’.  

Verdant Works is a world-class visitor attraction showcasing Dundee’s industrial textile heritage in the picturesque setting of a beautifully restored Mill building. The Mills were once the heart of Dundee, so you can explore this fantastic building, see (and hear) the machines at work, and step back in time. The stories of the mill workers will show you how they lived and worked in an industry that encompassed Dundee.
