Dundee A Winter Wonderland.

If you were planning a visit to Dundee this Christmas, it just got a whole lot better with some exciting news announced. Check out our latest article about Christmas in Dundee.

An ice rink on Slessor Gardens, Big Wheel with views of the Tay and brand-new light displays featuring much-loved characters from DC Thomson will help transform Dundee city centre into a winter wonderland this Christmas.

The Winter Fest will open in Slessor Gardens on 26 November, giving people the chance to shop for crafts or enjoy food and drink from the mini village of traditional wooden hut stalls.

The Winter Fest also features a specially constructed ice rink, while the Big Wheel will transform the city’s skyline for a six-week period.

From 2 – 24 December, Dundee’s iconic City Square will join in the fun with a 3D Dundee Christmas card for the ultimate festive selfie. Overseen by a light up Pingoo, revellers will be able to cast their Christmas wishes at the Wishing Fountains and enjoy nightly projections illuminating City Chambers.

The plans for Christmas in Dundee, which were released today, promise a season filled with festive treats for the whole family to enjoy. They include revamped Christmas lights which have been inspired by Dundee’s heritage. As well as the comic-book characters, there are also nods to the city’s maritime past and its status as a UNESCO City of Design.

With a selection of hot and cold refreshments also available, there will be a calendar of family-friendly events running throughout December in Dundee.
