The V&A Dundee is Scotland’s first design museum and the first and only design museum outside of London. Located on Dundee’s waterfront, it celebrates the impact of design on our lives, showcasing innovation and creativity from around the world. The building itself, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, is a striking piece of architecture inspired by Scotland’s cliffs. Inside, visitors can explore interesting exhibitions, from historic design objects to contemporary works. As a cultural landmark, it plays a central role in Dundee’s thriving arts and design scene.

If you’re planning on visiting be sure to take note of the opening times. The V&A Dundee is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM between April and October. From November to March, it operates the same hours but is closed on Tuesdays.

The McManus Art Gallery & Museum

Sticking with the theme of art and culture, up next we have the McManus Art Gallery & Museum. Situated centrally in the heart of the city, this beautiful Victorian, Gothic structure has been the home to art and culture in the city since 1867.

The collection spans just the mere 400 million years of art across the eight open space galleries which show off the history of this wonderful city.

Open seven days a week and all year round, with free admission, there is no excuse not to spend a few hours immersing yourself in the beauty of what Dundee has to offer.

Discovery Point & RRS Discovery

A short walk from Dundee train station, you’ll find it hard not to miss the towering masts of a glorious ship pointing to the skies on the bank of the River Tay. The Royal Research Ship Discovery (RRS Discovery) is a pioneering Antarctic exploration ship which had humble beginnings in the Dundee shipyards but went on to legendary status under Captain Scott with his historic adventure to Antarctica in 1901

The Ship has been in Dundee since 1986 and is now on a different route in her life. From travelling the world exploring, she now sits in wait hosting educational events, exhibitions and museums full to the brim of interesting artefacts.
