Sometimes, the smallest things tell the biggest stories—and that’s exactly what the University of Dundee’s latest exhibition, A Big World of Small Things, sets out to prove.
Running from 24 February to 25 April 2025 in the Lamb Gallery, this fascinating exhibition dives into the microscopic, the miniature, and the marvellous, showcasing parts of the university’s museum collections that highlight the beauty and significance of the tiny.
From molecular models to microscope slides, from embryos to babies, the exhibition reveals how scientists, artists, and collectors have studied and interpreted the world of the infinitesimally small over the years. Expect a mix of art, science, and nature, all celebrating the impact that small things have had on our understanding of life, the universe, and everything in between.
Among the highlights, you’ll find:
🔬 Delicate microscope slides that have unlocked ground-breaking discoveries.
🧬 Molecular models that help us visualise the invisible.
👶 Tiny representations of human development, from embryo to new-born.
🌿 Miniature natural specimens, capturing the beauty of life on the smallest scale.
It’s a reminder that sometimes, what’s invisible to the naked eye can be the most fascinating of all.
