Dundee has been named the best city in the UK for a spring day out in new research by LNER, putting the spotlight on the city’s mix of green space, waterfront views and standout attractions.

The study analysed 88 of the UK’s most populated towns and cities using a range of environmental and activity-based factors, including historical weather data, levels of green and blue space, woodland cover and the number of walking trails. Dundee came out on top, ahead of Maidstone, Telford and Aberdeen.

It’s easy to see why.

Spring is a brilliant time to explore Dundee, whether that means wandering through the colourful grounds of the University of Dundee Botanic Garden, taking in the panoramic views from Dundee Law, enjoying the wide open spaces of Camperdown Country Park, or spending time at the waterfront at V&A Dundee.

With more than 40% of the city made up of publicly accessible greenspace, Dundee offers plenty of room to stretch your legs and make the most of the season. Add in its walkable layout, rail connections and packed programme of things to see and do, and it makes for an ideal spring escape.

The recognition from LNER adds to Dundee’s growing reputation as one of the UK’s most rewarding small city breaks a place where culture, nature and discovery all sit close together.

So if you’re planning a spring day out, Dundee’s got the views, the fresh air and more than enough to fill your day.
